Having been through a divorce myself before becoming a Realtor, I understand how difficult it is. At the time, I thought I would remain in my home with my children, until my attorney explained that I would need to buy out my spouse’s half. I didn’t have the funds to do so, which meant the home had to be sold in order for us to each receive our half of the equity and move forward. It was an incredibly challenging time, and I will never forget how grateful I was to have a Realtor who truly understood and could help me navigate the process.
That experience has given me a unique perspective in my work today. When I became a Realtor years later, I knew I could offer something more to clients facing divorce because I’ve walked in those shoes. Some divorces are amicable, and others are not. I’ve helped couples where restraining orders were in place, where the court ordered the sale because the parties could not agree, and where personal items needed to be retrieved under sensitive conditions. Not every divorce looks like this, but I want you to know that whatever your situation is, it will be treated as private, personal, and judgment-free. Please don’t ever feel embarrassed to reach out. My role is to help you through this difficult time with care, discretion, and respect.
When it comes to working together, I am flexible. You are welcome to meet me in my office, at your home, or in another setting that feels comfortable for you. I’ve met with couples together, or separately when emotions or circumstances made that the better option. Sometimes I meet with one spouse in person and speak to the other by phone. I adapt to whatever arrangement makes this process feel manageable for you.
The timeline for putting a home on the market can vary in divorce situations. At times, one spouse needs to secure new housing before the sale. In other cases, the court requires the property to be listed within 30 days. No matter what your situation looks like, I am here to get the job done. I have a trusted team of professionals ready to prepare your home for market so that you receive the highest possible value, at no additional cost to you.
Once offers come in, I will review them with you and help decide which is the best fit. In some cases, that means reviewing them with both parties together. In others, I meet separately with each spouse to make sure all voices are heard before coming to a mutual decision. I often serve as the go-between, and I am more than willing to do that so the process is smoother for everyone involved. Even when a sale is forced or needs to move quickly, I never lose sight of the importance of achieving top dollar for you as sellers.
