Having been through a divorce myself before becoming a REALTOR®, I understand how difficult it is. I intended to remain in my house with my children before my attorney brought it to my attention that I would have to buy out my spouse's half and I didn't have the funds to do so. The home had to be sold so that we would each receive our half of the equity and could move on. It was a very challenging time and I was fortunate enough to have a Realtor who really understood and could help navigate the process.
That being said, when I became a Realtor many years later, I knew I had the unique advantage to help divorcees since I have been through it myself. Some are amicable and some are NOT. I have actually helped couples where restraining orders have been in place, the sale has been court ordered since the parties cannot agree, and arrangements have to be made for personal items to be retrieved by a party with a restraining order. While not all divorces are this way, I want you to know that your situation is considered personal and private to me and please don't be afraid or embarrassed to reach out. I do not place judgement and I am truly here to help. Anything I can do to make this situation a little bit easier is a win in my book. I am more than willing to provide references or talk about your personal situation (in a confidential and private setting) so I can best help you. No two divorces are the same and having been through one myself - trust me, I get it.

Given the nature of the divorce situation you are welcome to come to my office or have me come to your home. If you prefer a more private meeting, I can certainly accomodate that. I have met with couples together or met with one spouse in person and then had a phone call or separate meeting with the other spouse. What works for you and your situation works for me.

In some cases I review this with both parties together and in other cases I review with one spouse and then the other and come to a mutual conclusion. I am usually the in between for both parties and happy to do so. Even if your property is a forced sale or needs to sell quickly, I do not overlook the fact that top dollar is essential for you as sellers.
